Recall this scene from movie Inception.
COBB: What's the most resilient parasite? A bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm?
ARTHUR:: What Mr. Cobb is trying to say-
COBB: An idea. Resilient, highly contagious. Once an idea's taken hold in the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. A person can cover it up, ignore it- but it stays there.
SAITO: But surely-to forget...?
COBB: Information, yes. But an idea? Fully formed, understood? That sticks... In there, somewhere.
SAITO: For someone like you to steal?
S.T.E.A.L. They'll steal my idea. Should I share with them? They'll copy my idea and I'l be left with nothing. This worries young entrepreneurs a lot and therefore number one reason holding them from moving ahead. They're afraid and very protective about so called 'awesome ideas.' There are few things they should keep engrave in mind:
Let me defend my argument with little experience I have. If your idea is really unique then its probably result of vast experience you had in particular domain. Obviously backed by imagination. And person with whom you're sharing idea(baby) can never have exact experience and imagination else he'd have given birth to same idea/baby).
Ideas are babies and we know our baby more than anybody else because we live it, we feel it and we breath it--this requires passion and commitment. So even if person on other end is capable of stealing and executing the idea. He won't have that passion and commitment i.e mandatory to make idea success(perhaps this justifies why investors seeks passion and commitment in entrepreneur).Of course, there are few people who can adapt others child and raise them as their own kid. They might, steal your idea and make it possible.(I'll come back to these category of people in end.)
Babies grow with time, so does idea. Babies grow under intensive care and nourishment from parents. Same is with idea. The more you work on it, better it becomes in every aspect and therefore feasible and possible in practical life. So, if you've work a lot on your baby then you know strength and weakness. Now, your baby is 3 years old and if stolen...
